Bookmarks cleaning
My bookmarks file has once again grown out of control...
- Disconnect: Karen Kornbluh argues that Bush administration telecommunications policy is suppressing a potential resurgence in the telecom industry. Note the dateline --- Oct. 2001.
- FHWA standard roadway fonts; Clearview Hwy. FWHA E(M) is the "classic" font used on United States highway signs. Clearview Hwy, designed with extensive testing to improve nighttime readability, was recently adopted by some jurisdictions. I so want FHWA E(M) and/or Clearview Hwy for my next conference talk. (The various cheapo knockoffs don't have quite the refinement.) Too bad I haven't got a grand to burn.
- Even the FSF has called an end to its Amazon boycott. I'm still mad about One-Click, but maybe I'll consider starting to shop there again. Someday.
- Liberty and Imperialism Don't Mix, sez Mark Steyn of the Telegraph. Not exactly a liberal critique, nor do I agree with all of it, but it's astute at points.
- Found in WaPo: Bush was flying from Texas to Florida using a U.S. National Guard F-102 fighter jet in order to deal in "tropical plants" while he was "serving" in the National Guard. This is just weird.
- Everyone thinks they're special, and most of them are wrong.
- South Knox Bubba rounds up voting machine links.
- Correct Interpretation of the Curry-Howard Isomorphism.
- Interconnected.org notes on the design of social software.
- The Misunderestimated Man: Jacob Weisberg elucidates the precise contours of Bush's foolishness.
- MeFi rounds up neat-o animal pictures. Awww, polar bears.
- Ken Macleod (no, not the science fiction writer, the other one) documents the history of RSS in links.
- Three Toed Sloth eviscerates Salon's literary criticism.

Caveat blogger
The Blogger relaunch finally adds things like individual post pages (meaning "good" permalinks) and built-in comments. This is nice. However, switching over to the new system appears to bork the post UIDs, which means Haloscan comments in turn got borked. Oh well, like anyone cares, for this blog anyway, but all Blogger-using friends should beware.
OTOH I may simply have borked my template, and I'm too lazy to fix it up.
Update: Yes, I borked the template. Fixed now. Until Blogger allows non-anonymous non-registered comments I'm going to leave the Haloscan links as a backup.
